Requirements in Austria
- ÖNORM EN ISO 15883: fundamental requirements for WDs for medical devices.
- ÖGSV guideline No. 03: practical validation of cleaning/disinfection processes.
- Qualified device & trained staff as a prerequisite for any validation.
- Regular revalidation to maintain the validated state.
Technically sound: Thermal disinfection typically takes place at 90–95 °C. For the safe reprocessing of surgical instruments, an A₀ value of 3000 (equivalent to 90 °C for 5 minutes) is the benchmark.
